Skeeter Snacks

Skeeter Snacks is a small but growing snack food company that grew out of the frustration of 2 parents (Pete and Dave) of children with peanut and tree nut allergies. They, like many of us, have discovered that clearly labeled safe snack foods are difficult to find, very expensive, and/or taste like cardboard. They wanted to create a snack that is not only good for their allergy suffering children, but appealing to their entire families, friends, and the kids' classmates. On their website, they say, "It’s very important to us that we create products that non-allergic kids will love too—because we want our snacks to be an inclusive experience."

They currently have 4 cookie varieties on the market: Chocolate Chunk, Golden Oatmeal, Chocolate Cubed, and Skeeter Doodle. I have tried 3 of the 4 (I haven't obtained oatmeal yet) and I admit, for a pre-packaged cookie, they are pretty tasty!

Several grocery retailers have picked up the product, but local availability is still spotty. I ordered mine from Alice.com because there are no stores in my area that carry them yet. But they are available in Shoprite, Hannaford, Market Basket, Food Lion, and Delhaize food stores. They have also been picked up by WalMart, but are only in select locations so far. They can also be ordered through Amazon.com.

Check out their cookies and check out their website: http://www.skeetersnacks.com/ in addition to information on their products, they have resources and information on food allergies and activities for kids.
